At Leeds we have a huge range of sporting clubs that are supported by MSRC and are tailored to fit around the high contact hours in the MBChB programme. All the clubs are excellent opportunities to meet friends across the year groups and break up the (sometimes) monotonous academic routine with some light-hearted competition.

We are a friendly group of people who have one common interest duhh… basketball. As a relatively new society we welcome all new players – experienced or new to the sport! We have had many girls come to training and we’d love anyone with an interest to come! Training is every Thursday and Sunday so check out our Facebook group to find out times, which will be where al lof our details can be found. We have several competitive games throughout the year from Medic NAMS tournaments to varsities with other universities such as Manchester. SO if this interests you check our Facebook and come on down!

Men’s Football

LM&DFC is the Leeds medical and dental school football club. We have over 90 registered players. 4 Saturday teams play in the FA affiliated Yorkshire Amateur League and 1 intra-mural side on a Wednesday. We achieve consistently high place finishes every year in the National Association of Medical Schools (NAMS) football championships. We encourage all levels of ability to participate.

Women’s Football

We’re the LMD Women’s Football Club, aka the Pink Ladies.
We are known not only for our silky skills on the pitch but also our love of all things pink and NAMS, which we won last year, no big deal. We accept all skill levels so it doesn’t matter if you can bend it like Beckham or have never kicked a ball before in your life. We train on Wednesdays 8-10pm at Weetwood and our first team plays in the West Riding county league on Sundays. It’s a good laugh and we’re a pretty neat bunch so come give footy a try.

Badminton is a great way to have fun, keep fit, and meet new people! We have informal sessions twice a week, usually on a Thursday and a Saturday. Whether you want to hone your skills or have a friendly knock about, check out our Facebook page. We also have opportunities to play against people from other medicine and dentistry schools. Players of all abilities are welcome, we even provide racquets!

Cricket – “A game of skill and gentlemanly conduct where everyone hates the Australians equally.” Leeds is the home of cricket, hosting teams such as England, Yorkshire and Leeds Medics Cricket Club. We are open to everyone and anyone who is interested in playing some informal fun cricket over the course of the year. As well as being passionate about our cricket, our strong social element will see you through your time in Leeds. We play against other medical schools, local teams and in an indoor league throughout the winter. The annual T20 tournament against other medical schools is always a highlight of the year, Leeds’ fearsome talents with bat and ball promises big things for the tournament in 2019.

We’re Leeds Medic’s and Dentist’s Tennis Society – the best medic’s tennis society in the country! We are a friendly bunch, committed to giving everyone the opportunity to play tennis. We cater for all abilities. We run both indoor and outdoor sessions, and serve up some ace coaching to prepare us for matches against other medical schools and teams at the University. Off the courts, our socials are a racket and are welcome to all. We’ve had formal dinners, a summer bbq and are introducing a new trip to Wimbledon!

We thought we’d give you a little “amuse-bouche” of what’s to come. We are oh so much more than a ski trip, welcoming everyone from snow-plough
specialists to off-piste perfectionists. Leeds Medics and Dentists Snowsports Society is a year full of socials, Otley runs, trips to the local indoor ski slope and of course a week-long ski trip that is incredible value for money. Get involved as early as you can to get to know as many of us as you can, before you know it you’ll be chasing a citrus fruit down a mountain wondering why on earth you considered not joining. If that isn’t a weird enough teaser into what we do then I don’t know what is. Booking is open now! See you at apres!

Ladies and gentlemen. We would love to welcome you into LUUMDHC, universally known as the largest, most social sports team within the medical school. We are a fun loving, active mixed hockey team which party harder than we play. Come along to Weetwood at 7.30pm on Fridays to meet the family. Hockey lovin’ LUUMDHC x

The Medic’s and Dentist’s Netball club would like to call on anybody of any standard to come along! Training is held on a Monday night 8pm at The Edge. We cater for all abilities with 3 teams, but we also welcome social members. Our 1st and 2nd team play in West Yorkshire leagues every Wednesday and Saturday, 3rd team play in the intramural league. We are highly active on the social scene, and have a joint tour with the rugby boys every year.

Renowned for being one of the best performing ‘medic’s rugby’ clubs in the country. Top-quality coaches take training twice a week, and matches take place on a Saturday afternoon. The club also has access to physio and conditioning coaches. Socials play a huge part in the calendar – with regular Saturday socials and huge monthly events, not forgetting annual tours with the netballers. We welcome players of all abilities!
